It’s an exciting time for Millets Farm Shop with summer
finally upon us and the start of the season for all our
favourite homegrown fruit and vegetables.
The farm shop (more of a food
emporium!) has a vast range of fruit and
vegetables, many grown here on our own
arable farm.
Our dedicated farm team pick fresh off
the farm each day ensuring we offer the
freshest possible food with almost zero
food miles!
Under the guidance of our fruit
manager; Yulian; within 24 hours of our
Strawberries and Raspberries being
picked they are available to buy in
the Farm Shop. Our chosen variety of
strawberry; “Elsanta” ; is known for its
great flavour and recognisable for the
brightness and big shape of the fruit.
Our Pick Your Own (PYO) is open daily
from 9am this year, and we will have
planted 90,000 Strawberry plants and
20,000 Raspberry plants as well as 27
other crops. The strawberry plants have
a 60 day life and we plant every 15 days
during the season to keep a consistent
supply. Unfortunately we can’t control the
weather so it’s always a bit hit and miss!

For a great summer dessert: add some
homemade meringues from our farm
shop, as Kate; our Bakery Manager; and
her team fill an oven with meringues of
all shapes and sizes everyday which bake
slowly at a low temperature overnight to
give them that crunchy on the outside,
soft in the middle delicious meringue
texture. Either crumble meringues with
cream and strawberries for a delicious
“Eaton Mess” or make individual nests
with crème fraiche and raspberries.
A visit to our farm shop is a must
if you’re looking for traditional
butchers under the leadership of
our own Master Butcher; Colin;
who will advise and also offer that
old fashioned trimming service,
all at no extra charge.
