Carterton Crier Issue 3_Lowres - page 101

At last the mornings are getting lighter and spring is definitely in the air. The wet
winter coupled with long dark evenings seem to have lasted forever! Since the last
edition, we have again been inspected by Challenge Partners, who for the third time
in a row, judged us as “Outstanding” in a number of categories. The thorough three-
day inspection of all areas of the school continues to demonstrate our pursuit for the
highest standards and highest aspirations on a daily basis.
Last summer’s Year 11 results of +0.59 in the new Progress 8 measures is now the
best in the county and will be hard to beat this summer, but we have the utmost faith
in our current Year 11 cohort. All students are working extremely hard co-ordinating
controlled assessment deadlines, putting finishing touches to practical performances
and planning revision timetables to maximise their potential for their examinations.
We wish them all the best during this very stressful period and I am certain they will
be fully prepared and confident going into the exam season. Students are carrying
this confidence into current Sixth Form interviews which are in full swing with our
highest number of applicants looking to stay on in Year 12. If you get an opportunity
you will see examples of breath-taking GCSE and A-level Art that now grace the
reception in the Carterton Community Centre.
Finally, you can’t fail to notice the massive community event taking place on Saturday
25th June on the playing fields here at the college. Fakefest is a fabulous opportunity
for families and local communities to enjoy a fun packed music day out together.
Along with first class tribute bands, local bands are invited to perform before the
professionals take to the stage. This makes the community event a real opportunity
for talented ones to enjoy what could be a once in a lifetime chance to rock the stage
in front of family and friends! All in all, it’s a fantastic setting for some really great
live music action all day and well into the night.
As part of the Carterton Community Schools Federation, Carterton Community
College is extremely proud of its achievements and continues to serve students to the
best of our ability. I believe we are an outstanding provider of first class education to
all students of Carterton and the surrounding communities.
