For the art aficionado, tucked away in a
beautiful studio/gallery space in Filkins
you can visit Peter Care who originally
trained as a ceramicist and has exhibited
both his ceramics and paintings across
Europe. Care is interested in the process
of producing artworks and utilises an
unusual technique to create his paintings,
calling it ‘reverse painting’ because he
works with the paint almost as if it were
clay – he loads up the canvas with thick
layers of pigment before scraping it off
and smudging it to create meditative art
in an experimental and distinctive style
all his own.
An Artweeks day out is always a bit of
an adventure: you never know what
wonders you’re going to find, whether it’s
a pair of earrings made from sea glass or
a larger than life carthorse made from old
agricultural machinery. It’s also brilliant
because when you head home, you can
take a piece of treasure that you fell for
on your travels!
