ADOPT
Children in Bucks, especially siblings groups like these need people like you to give
them a chance and a home. We’re looking for people from all walks of life regardless
of your age, race, religion, marital status or sexuality to foster and adopt in Bucks.
“I’ve learned to expect the unexpected,
the hugs and the tantrums. However,
I always have the satisfaction of
knowing I made the right decision.
Parenting through adoption has made
a difference to ALL our lives.”
Suzanna, adoptive Mum
Could you be the family Katie and Harry are looking for?
Katie, 5, and Harry, 3 are brother and sister;
they have always lived together and have a
very close bond.
Katie says “I want a dad who will take us to
the park to play.”
Katie is a healthy, happy, bright and giggly
girl who can be quite shy and sometimes
likes to have time to herself. She loves going
to school and since she has been with her
foster carers has excelled in reading and
writing. She is very creative and loves to
learn. She can be quite boisterous with her
play and likes football.
Harry can be a very loving boy and likes
playing with his cars and motorbikes. He
enjoys going to pre-school. Harry needs a lot
of encouragement with activity and would
benefit from a loving family who have lots of
energy and patience. He can be strong willed
at times and needs routines and set
boundaries.
More than
fifty
Bucks
children are waiting for
new adoptive families
During National Adoption Week (4 – 10 November) we are looking for people like you
to become adoptive families to the fifty Buckinghamshire children of all ages who are
desperately waiting to find their forever homes.
We particularly need families who can offer
groups of brothers and sisters a stable loving
home, to help them recover from the reasons
why they came into care and thrive in a new
family.
The greatest gift a parent can give a child is
unconditional love. But sadly not all parents
have the luxury of being able to give their
children everything they need, due to any
number of difficulties. Some children suffer
from disabilities, learning or behavioural
difficulties, whilst others are put up for
adoption because they have suffered neglect
or abuse.
Clare and her husband Jonathan decided
to adopt after they were unable to have any
of their own despite IVF treatment. Clare
told us: “We did want to be parents. It was
the next option we thought was for us - not
having children was worse. We had done
most of the things we wanted to do as single
and married people and this was the next
step.”
All kinds of people can become adopters.
Like the children they look after, adoptive
parents and foster carers come from a wide
variety of backgrounds.
We welcome enquiries and applications from
anyone over the age of 21; single; couples
straight, gay or lesbian; living in your own
home or rented accommodation and from all
cultures and religions.
Clare admits that although the process of
adopting felt 'under the microscope' at times
because of the constant contact with social
workers and health visitors, she wouldn't
change a thing.
If you decide to take the step to adopt or
foster with us, we will ensure you receive all
the help and support you need.
Clare said: “We've ended up with two really
healthy lovely, always cheerful boys. They
have brought a tremendous amount into our
lives - something we wouldn't have had if we
hadn't had children.”
