Every year we look forward to our
holidays. In the run-up we chat about them
to whoever is in earshot. We plan our
wardrobes, mull over our excursions and
count down the days.
But how about those who find holidaying
trickier in a practical sense? Most of us
don’t even consider them.

Specially opened to provide holidays for
the elderly, frail, and people with disabilities,
Merton House Hotel is a beautiful Georgian
house located in the pretty market town of
Ross-on-Wye, at the head of the stunning Wye
Valley the views from the garden overlook the
River Wye and the black mountains of Wales. It
is the ideal hotel for those guests who for many
reasons may feel the need to take a holiday in
an environment where the staff are a little more
understanding about the needs of the guests.
The bedrooms on the ground floor wing are
suited for wheelchair access. These rooms have
en-suite shower wet rooms, and some have
patio doors which give access to the garden.
Additional aid equipment is also available
and a lift is provided to all floors. Private car
parking facilities are available as well. The hotel
is centrally heated throughout offering a warm
and cosy environment with an attractive sun
lounge overlooking the gardens where you
can relax during the day and enjoy a drink
and the entertainment during the evenings.
Entertainment is provided 4 nights a week.
Merton House takes pride in the traditional fare
served in their charming dining room. Fully
cooked breakfast and 3 course dinner all await
you. A hot drink is provided at bedtime plus
you can enjoy an early morning tea served in
your room.
Included in your holiday is a free excursion to
one of the many attractive tourist spots around
Ross-in-Wye in a specially adapted bus. Other
excursions are also available during the week.
You need not worry about transport to and
from the hotel as Merton House can provide,
at an additional cost, door to door transport
including adapted vehicles to accommodate
wheelchairs.
