Go Blue for Blue
Cross Burford
The Blue Cross rehoming centre in Burford has been helping pets
since 1992, but unfortunately the facilities are now out of date and in
desperate need of refurbishment, and they need your support to
make this happen. Get involved in Go Blue for Blue Cross Burford and
help them reach their goal of doubling the number of pets they help
by 2020.
The Go Blue Appeal kicked off in November 2015 and will run through
until May 2017 when the build, costing an estimated £2.5 million,
is finished. The first fundraising event was the ‘Feeling blue in the
doghouse’ challenge where members of staff and volunteers spent 24
hours in the kennel block and took part in canine challenges, raising over
£5,000 in total. “It was to help highlight why we’re doing the rebuild”,
Tina Burdett, Community Fundraising Officer, told the Crier. “Although
we do all we can to make our dogs’ stay in kennels as stress-free as
possible, nothing compares to a loving family
home. The challenge really brought to
life how tough life can be for a dog in
kennels, but our new facilities will
offer homeless pets a much nicer
environment while they wait
for loving families to take
them home.”
Beyond this the Blue Cross
Community & Events
team will be out and
about at shows, fetes,
markets etc. talking
to people and raising
awareness. They are
always on the lookout
for event volunteers
to help with everything
