Reading Pride ready to rock the town
Reading Pride was formed in 2003 to represent and support the local LGBT+ community.
Since the first Festival, attendance has grown steadily year on year with up to 10,000 people
visiting the event as well as participating in the Pride parade.
The twelfth Reading Pride Festival takes place on Saturday 5th September 2015 at Kings
Meadow and kicks off when the Parade arrives at 12pm with a full line-up of entertainment
throughout the day along with a funfair, youth area, a wide range of food, drink and
marketstalls.
The Marketplace is in an integral part of the Reading Pride festival. Centrally located within
the festival site and heavily frequented by visitors throughout the day, the Marketplace area
gives organisations and businesses the opportunity to engage and communicate with LGBT+
communities within the Thames Valley. Whether you are a non-profit group keen to increase
community awareness of the services and support you provide, or a commercial organisation
wishing to showcase and sell your products to a new audience, we have a package to suit your
needs and budget.
Reading Pride is seeking to identify and select outside businesses to perform activities
including food and beverage supplies to Reading Pride during the event, providing a
range of hot and cold foods, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages to our visitors.
The Reading Pride Parade brings the spirit of Pride to the centre of Reading,
with a pedestrian parade tracing a route from the Civic Centre through
Broad Street to Kings Meadow Park forming a spectacle of noise and
colour that cannot be missed. The parade provides an opportunity for
groups, organisations or individuals to show their support for Pride and
the ongoing campaign for equality.
The Pride Parade starts from outside Reading Civic Centre,
assembling from 11am. We make our way through Broad Street to
the Forbury Gardens where there is short pause for photographs
we then proceed to the Festival site in time for opening at 12
noon.
