Summer 2015 - page 14-15

At Bournemouth Borough Council
we will ensure everyone will
have fair access to our
services, be socially inclusive in
all our functions and activities,
be transparent in all we do and
value our customers and staff.
Bournemouth has a cosmopolitan social
environment which attracts over five million
visitors each year.
As the largest employer in Bournemouth
- and as Stonewall Workplace Equality Champions -
we pride ourselves on valuing our staff. We
appreciate their wide range of skills and abilities
which helps us to deliver our services.
We respect each of our residents and visitors
and value the diversity of our communities.
We rise to the challenges diversity brings and
relish the opportunities it creates.
We’re out as an
equal opportunities employer!
At Bournemouth Borough Council we use
our membership of Stonewall’s Diversity
Champions Programme to promote inclusion
in our workplace and across our town.
We work with our Sexual Orientation Staff
Network Group (SONG) and with our
local communities to continuously promote
and build a better Bournemouth which is
LGB&T and Asexual inclusive.
We are proud of the diversity of our town
and work with local LGB&T communities
and other partners to share our vision for our
Town, to raise awareness of our ambition to
be an excellent council and further enhance
engagement with all our communities.
We
want
our
Town
to be a
place where people feel welcome and are
proud and comfortable to be whom they are.
We are delighted to support Bourne Free.
This is a fun filled inclusive event which
brings communities together, makes a
positive contribution to the local economy
and celebrates the diversity of our town.

Bournemouth’s big celebration of LGBT life in Dorset returns this year, bigger and better
than ever on Saturday 11th July from 12 midday to 11pm (not including the after parties,
of course!) The first event took place in 2004 as a reaction to the arrival of a far-right group
who arrived in the town to preach an anti-gay message.
This year’s theme has been announced as Broadway so dig out your evening suits and ball
gowns. Big Brovaz Vs Booty Luv has confirmed to play at the bandstand as has local favourite
Dave Lynn. 2shoes from XFactor are also performing and if you are a P!nk fan, you will love
tribute act P?nk, who are on the main stage as well.
The Parade is again setting off from East Cliff at 11am and will end at the Triangle at around
12pm. Events at the Bandstand will start at 12:20 and there is loads to keep you entertained
until the end, which will be around 4:30pm.
Come and celebrate with us, purchase your wristbands for The Triangle Arena now.
Wristbands are NOT required for Friday’s entertainment or for The Bandstand on Saturday.
