Macsamillion – still putting its best foot forward and stepping into the
future Macsamillion is famous across the county, even the world, through
its website for supplying only the very best in footwear and has graced
Avenue 1 in Oxford’s famous covered market for over forty years. James
Maclachlan, the founder, has a simple motto. “If you are not going
forwards, you are going backwards.” For James, ‘forwards’ includes
expansion through their recently launched website and online store and
the current expansion of their Foot Foundation service. Now opposite
their existing ladies shop, the Foot Foundation has taken over what was
the Jemini Florist unit, who have moved elsewhere in the covered market.
The new store will feature two, state-ofthe-art, I-step digital foot
scanners. I-step is a revolutionary, digital, foot scanning technology.
Your feet are scanned to accurately measure your correct foot size and
pressure sensors determine your arch type and pressure points of the
foot. The system immediately recommends custom selected orthotics
and the Foot Foundation consultants are able to advise on selected
footwear most suited to you from an extensive range of quality, specialist
footwear brands. These include Mephisto, Finn Comfort, Waldlaufer and
Semler to name but a few.
This service can transform the lives of people who have been wearing
ill- fitting shoes or have a medical need for orthotic insoles for corrective
purposes and with referrals coming from both the NHS and Private
Podiatrist’s, it’s already shown that the right fitting and balanced footwear
can improve comfort for sufferers of bunions, misaligned spines, hips,
knees and ankles.
If your feet are in the correct position, you have a much greater chance
of retaining and improving a correct posture.
Our Feet are one of the most neglected parts of our bodies and yet one
of the hardest working. We all complain, from time to time, that our feet
are ‘killing us’ and in truth, the impact on our health from badly fitting
footwear can be truly enormous. Foot health is improved greatly by well
fitted footwear and the Foot Foundation service has taken that principle
to new heights!
With comfort still in mind, there will be a personal boot fitting service
specifically designed to accommodate wide calves. There will be some
wonderfully designed boots from Dutch company, JJ Footwear. It is also
intended, in the near future, to offer reflexology and podiatry to customers
in private treatment rooms. Yvonne Van Bommel and Mary-Ann Price,
both Managing Directors and buyers for the Company, visit footwear
shows in Dusseldorf and Milan as well as in Britain, always searching for
the best in quality and style.
In our Ladies shop footwear is widely sourced from Europe. The core
lines feature ballet pumps and loafers, but every season sees the arrival
of an exciting range of fashionable collections to name but a few Wolky,
Peter Kaiser, Arche, HB shoes.
The men’s shop has many English brands that feature Goodyear welted
footwear the likes of Crockett & Jones, Church, Jeffrey West, Loakes and
many more, the store has a loyal following of customers, who return time
and time again for their favoured, tried and tested shoes. Many also love
the highlights offered by the more fashionable Italian styles on offer.
Whatever your needs, be it style, quality, comfort, or indeed all three,
