Fostering
We are just so glad that we phoned and now 10 months later we
are fostering 2 children - brother and sister, we feel like we are really
making a difference to their lives, fostering has really enriched our
lives and we hope we can do this for lots of other children in the
future too.”
Fostering is a way of providing family life for children who cannot
live with their own parents. It is often used to provide temporary care
while parents get help sorting out problems or to help children or
young people through a difficult period in their lives.
SOME FOSTERING FACTS:
There is no age limit to foster - to foster you have to be over 18, we
have foster carers who are still fostering in their 70’s
Single?
Not a problem - children need stable loving homes by
single parents and couples, whatever their gender or sexual
orientation
Disabilities or not, you can still foster
- health problems and
disabilities will not stop you from fostering, provided you can care
for the children
No ethnic matching
- there are children from many different
backgrounds needing to be fostered, what is important is that you
can meet the needs of the child

“Our Family Serving Your Family In Your Time Of Need”
Oxfordshire County Council’s fostering
team is hoping to recruit a diverse range
of people from a wide range of backgrounds
so that more children can be placed in the right home for them.
Currently we need to find short term and long term foster families for:
Teenagers – 50 per cent of children in care in Oxfordshire are 12
years and over
Sibling groups - who need to be placed together rather than on
their own
Babies and toddlers – who need to be placed with foster carers
who are at home full time
Disabled children – who need people with the skills and experience
to care for them
Children with specialist fostering needs – who are among our most
vulnerable children and young people and are part of specialist
fostering schemes.
What help will you get?
Specialist training & support is given, carers
receive an allowance and in some instances additional fees.

or ring the Fostering Team on 0800 7835724.

Fostering
Jim and Fatima foster - Jim said, “it’s amazing, we were not sure if we would
be able to foster, we don’t have our own kids, we had both been married before
so this is our second marriage - and we come from very different backgrounds!
But as soon as Fatima phoned it was obvious that there are no barriers, we got
such a good response to our call and all our concerns were eased.
There is certain warmth that comes from knowing you are dealing
with a family firm, and when it comes to a distressing time such as
the death of a loved one, it is nice to know everything is in good
hands.
D.L.Hancock Ltd are the last independently owned family
funeral company in Headington, Oxford and Bicester – they are not part
of any co-operative or dignity group and so their service is unique and
bespoke every time. Every detail is considered in the planning for your
loved one so that you can feel free to celebrate and remember the life
without worrying about the details. Established in 1994, D.L.Hancock
Ltd has now been providing 20 years of dedicated and considerate
funeral services to Oxfordshire.
Darren Hancock is the owner and Funeral Director, his team of
experienced and caring staff provide a professional service for all
their clients. Both the Oxford and Bicester funeral homes have a
comfortable tranquil feel and offer a caring environment in which to
discuss arrangements. The family home is above the Bicester branch,
which also adds a very personal touch to the atmosphere. Meanwhile
the Oxford branch, which is based in the middle of Headington, offers a
tranquil and peaceful ambiance throughout.
The cost of a funeral is one of the most important things for most
families, not because they want the cheapest, but because they want
the very best for their loved one. So that is why it is very important to be
able to offer a price selection for all families and D.L.Hancock Ltd have
a range of coffins to suit everybody from a standard wooden range to
that of natural willow coffins and caskets.
Our Fleet of Jaguar Funeral Cars are timeless in style and add a touch
of elegance to our funeral procession, they are maintained to the highest
standard. A traditional horse-drawn hearse is also available if you are
looking for something a bit more traditional, or even a Motorcycle
hearse for something a little different.
D.L.Hancock Ltd will also arrange floral tributes on your behalf as well
as crematorium and/or cemetery fees. But most importantly of all, they
will provide a personal, caring service and will be constantly available to
answer questions and guide you through the difficult process of saying
goodbye to a loved one.
