Recently, the Sunday Times released its Best Places to Live guide and
unsurprisingly, West Oxfordshire appeared in it, not just once but twice!
The research looked at 101 towns and suburbs across the country and
rated them on statistics such as crime rates, house prices and local
school performances.
The researches also judged the areas on the range of properties for
sale, school league tables, ease of access to shops and the town’s
overall sense of individuality.
In the results, the two West Oxfordshire locations to be mentioned were
Combe and Witney, both of which ranked highly enough to make the
guide.
Now I said it was ‘unsurprising’ that West Oxfordshire featured in the
guide and I don’t mean that in a cynical the Prime Minister lives here
sort of way. It’s simply a wonderful place to live. Where else has stately
homes, palaces, music festivals, beer festivals, village greens galore… In
fact, we didn’t need the Chelsea set to tell us how fabulous our country
pubs, shops and villages are. We know. It’s our home and we are very
pleased to live here.
