Oxford’s First ‘Rainbow Run’
Sunday 8th June, 10am
On Sunday 8th June, Oxford’s first ‘Rainbow Run’ will be taking place at University Parks at 10am to raise
money for the local children’s hospice, Helen & Douglas House. Taking place in the heart of the dreaming
spires of Oxford, this unique fun run is just 3km long, so suitable families for individuals from 2 or 80
years old. What makes it unique is that you will be showered with powered paint from head to toe all the
colours of a rainbow during the run.
The ‘Rainbow’ Run is a one of a kind experience that is less about speed and more about enjoying a
colourful, fun day with friends, family or work colleagues. Participants of all different speeds, ages,
shapes, fitness levels and sizes can take part. Whether participants are a casual Sunday morning walker
or an Olympic athlete, the 3km ‘Rainbow Run’ course will be the most enjoyable 3km travelled in a very
long time. With no winners or official times, the run caters to anyone and everyone.
Over 60% of runners in this type of event are often first-time 3k runners. Others participate to honour
loved ones who have passed away or are fighting diseases.
Poppy Hanbury, Activities Fundraiser from Helen & Douglas House who is organizing the event said
“’The ‘Rainbow Run’ is a unique event that reflects the ethos of Helen & Douglas House; it celebrates
the magical place the hospice is and the joy and laughter it brings to so many local families. It is about
happiness and living life to the full. It’s less about the 10-minute-mile and more about having lots of with
family and friends. This event is a perfect way to have fun and raise money for a great local charity at the
same time.”
Entry fees are just £7.50 for a child under 16 and £12 for an adult. There will also be an opportunity to
raise money for Helen & Douglas House through sponsorship. Places are limited so sign-up for your
