Siege &
Strife:
Wallingford
& War
Wallingford Museum has now
opened its new exhibitions
featuring ‘Siege & Strife:
Wallingford & War’. This
exhibition presents a very
human story of the people of
Wallingford and the effect of
war upon them. It covers all
conflicts from the founding
of the Town to present day
warfare.
World War I memorabilia
- including a wonderful
Christmas Card made from
a corned beef tin - and
cameras from the photo-
reconnaissance unit at RAF
Benson. You can even go under
the stairs to shelter from any stray
bombs!
Then in mid-October your ticket will be valid for an additional war exhibition -
POW Sketchbook, featuring the incredible original war drawings of the late Will
Wilder of Crowmarsh, a local artist who was held in captivity for four years by the
Japanese. He managed to hide his drawings of camp life in a bamboo pole and
bring them safely home at the end of World War II - rare and amazing images, not
to be missed.
All for just a £4 season ticket for adults, and FREE for children!
