Didcot to mark the Great War
with two events
Didcot will be marking 100 years since World War One with two events at the town’s war
memorial in the Garden of Remembrance near the Civic Hall. On 3rd August, there will
be a service of remembrance, penitence and reflection at the war memorial. After the
service there will be tea and coffee available as well as a chance to see a display of local
world war one items. And if you have any memorabilia or items from the First World War
you would be happy to loan for a short
time, contact Karen Dodd at 01235
812637. All items will be kept in glass
cases and expertly handled.
In conjunction with the Lights Out
event being held nationally by the
British Legion, Didcot are inviting
residents and visitors to bring their
candles to the war memorial at 10pm
on the 4th August to mark the lights
out hour. The candles will then be
brought into the hall and form part of
the exhibition.
