Thame man to live on an iceberg for a year
No, really! A man from Thame is set to live on an iceberg for 18 months! Alex Bellini has undertaken several big
adventures before including an extreme walk across Alaska and a marathon in the Sahara. The 35 year-old
is now planning to head to Greenland next May and spend a short while looking for the perfect iceberg. He
will then live on it for 12 months as it drifts and melts beneath him. He will be waking up and going to sleep in
temperatures of -20°C and it could travel a whole 1000km before it finally melts away.
While he is there, he will collect data to help scientists studying global warming and he hopes that his year on
the berg will help draw attention to the issue of global warming. His adventure will start in the Spring of 2015
and end when the berg finally melts, which is expected to be a year later. Alex’s wife and children will wait at
