Although traditional in its atmosphere,
uniform and annual cycle of events,
Burford School is thoroughly
contemporary in its outlook and
there’s a collective feeling of pride in
the school. Founded in 1571, the school
has always had both boarding and day
students. Academic success is pursued
at all levels and students consistently
achieve outstanding exam results.
Mrs Haig, Headteacher at the school
for the last eight years, believes
that “Becoming an Academy has
given us flexibility, allowing us to
prioritize areas within the curriculum
that we feel are important to our
students’ success and well-being
whilst delivering a high standard of
education. Young people need to
feel both physically and emotionally
safe to thrive. At Burford we focus on
developing the whole child and help
