know this matters as the same survey once again
shows that those who are able to be themselves
enjoy going to work, are more loyal to their
employer and make a greater contribution to the
organisation they work for.
These results mirror those of our latest research
‘Where we are now’. It shows that young people
are less confident reporting homophobic bullying
at work and bisexual men are more likely to
feel that their workplace is not a good place for
lesbian, gay and bisexual people to work. At
Stonewall Cymru, we have a vision of a Wales
where everyone can realise every ounce of their
potential. Our Top Employers and everyone who
took part in this year’s index are helping us make
that vision a reality.”

The Equality and Diversity team are thrilled
that we have moved up and amazing 205 places
in Stonewall’s Equality Index to 133. This
recognises the hard work we have done over the
past year to get sexual orientation equality on the
agenda. It started off by raising the rainbow flag
for the first time on our public buildings to now
seeing LGBT issues being discussed regularly
across the organisation.

Carmarthenshire County Council is
exceptionally pleased to be listed in Stonewall’s
Top 100 Employers. It is essential that we
create an environment where our staff and
our communities are able to give of their best.
We have ensured that our policies, procedures
and training is inclusive and promotes dignity
and respect. However, this is a long term
commitment and there is plenty of work to do.
