They take great pride in the customer
service they provide, having many loyal
customers who travel with them over and
over again. Pathfinder organise around
40 rail excursions every year along both
famous and less well known routes to a
wide variety of interesting destinations.
Some of their trains aremade up of heritage
carriages hauled by steam locomotives
evoking bygone times. Others are hauled
by classic diesel engines arousing the
interests of train buffs.
Charity raffles are held on the excursions
and these raise funds for things like Midlands
Air Ambulance. All the stewards on Pathfinder
Tours trains are volunteers who really enjoy
their role and make passengers fell really
welcome.
On Saturday, 21st June Pathfinder Tours
have The Scenic Settler, which will be
travelling to the border city of Carlisle along
the famous Settle & Carlisle Line with its
spectacular scenery and unrivalled views.
There is an afternoon break in Carlisle before
heading homewards, skirting the eastern
Lake District and Morecombe Bay. This train
will be hauled by a Class 70 locomotive which
isn’t usually used for passenger trains.
Pathfinder Tours
Pathfinder Tours is a well respected company in the rail excursion business and last year celebrated the
fortieth anniversary of the first train excursion that General Manager, Peter Watts, ever organised.
The Heart of Wales Rambler on Saturday,
12 July will take you on a circular tour through
mid-Wales along the pretty single track Heart
of Wales Line. There is an afternoon break in
the Victorian spa town of Llandrindod Wells
before the train heads homewards
