Council improves
access to its buildings
It is a well-publicised fact that disabled people contribute up to £80bn to the UK
economy per year, but the majority of disabled shoppers feel that physical access to
facilities always or regularly affects where they go in their town centres. Dave Wesson
has been invited to work more closely with Carterton Town Council and the Mayor
Cllr Lynn Little, looking specifically at all aspects of access to the Councils buildings
and the town centre shops. He is also going to look closely at amenity areas within
the town from the unique point of view of those with mobility problems and other
disabilities. In addition, Dave has been tasked with taking a good look at the state of
the roads and footpaths around the town to identify areas that could be a hazard and
are therefore in need of urgent repair – a pot hole can be highly dangerous to scooters
and wheelchairs alike.
If you would like to raise any issues or highlight any areas to Dave you can contact me
