Real Life Alt Wedding:
Carly & Steve Llewellyn
Bride & Groom: Carly & Steve Llewellyn | Wedding Location: Llechwen Hall Hotel
“ I got married to Steve in June last year. I was never one of those girls dreaming
of her wedding day - until the day that Steve proposed. Then it became a full
blown obsession. I’m also a photographer so am able to carry on with this
obsession when I get to photograph weddings. We knew from the start that
we wanted a wedding that everybody would enjoy and remember. We wanted
a wedding that reflected our personalities and interests. There was some
pressure from family to go traditional but we stuck to our guns. A huge part
of the wedding was the music, especially for my husband. I walked down the
aisle to Bad Manners “Special Brew”, walked out to Stepenwolf “Magic Carpet
Ride” then walked into our reception to Toots and the Maytals “Redemption
Song”. We also made playlists for the whole day. The venue was outstandingly
beautiful - just not enough words. Absolutely wonderful. Llechwen Hall - which
is set on top of a mountain overlooking the Welsh Valleys is totally isolated. We
got married in the Oak Hall and had our reception in their marquee. Our decor
was very personal. Steve hand painted the skulls and I turned them into centre
pieces, we made “I Do Brew” (skittles vodka) favours, a friend painted us a sign
with two skulls and “Carly & Steve” written on it, a skull chocolate sweet table,
nearly everything was DIY. I made my own bouquet out of silk flowers and
brooches. The bridesmaids wore red rockabilly dresses with seamed stockings,
and I wore a traditional wedding gown (which shocked everybody) with glittery
red shoes. Our photographer was amazing! Very creative and focused. We chose
him as his pictures seemed to capture the genuine emotions and atmosphere.
He is also a dab hand at off camera flash which created gorgeous photos. ”
