'The Future is Ours...
Safe, Fun, and Connected'
Anti-Bullying Week takes place
every year to raise awareness of
bullying (it’s 18th-22nd Nov this
year). The event aims to encourage
everyone to work together to combat
the issue.
The Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA)
co-ordinates Anti-Bullying Week
(ABW) each year and works all
year round to prevent bullying, and
to create safer environments where
children and young people can live,
grow, play and learn.
This year, ABW is calling on children
and young people to take the lead in
creating a future without bullying by
using new technologies to promote
positive communication rather than
being held back by cyberbullying.
ABW will link closely to Safer Internet
Day 2014 which takes place on the
11th February 2014, with the theme
‘Let’s create a better internet together’.
The Anti-Bullying Alliance and
Childnet International will be working
together to connect the two campaigns
so that organisations can plan activities
throughout the year to prevent
cyberbullying, promote e-safety and
create a positive online world.
Key aims for ABW2013 include:
• Ensuring children are able to recognise
bullying, either face to face or online, and are
equipped to challenge the issue.
• Providing resources for schools, colleges and
youth service leaders to encourage positive
use of technologies and youth led initiatives
against bullying.
• Helping people who work with children to
identify those who might be particularly
vulnerable to bullying through technology.
