A huge benefit to being Mayor
Town Mayors are busy people. Part of their roles are civic but a huge part of
their position enthusiastically taken up by our own Mayor Cllr Lynn Little is the
opportunity to raise money for worthwhile causes.
These are the charities that benefited in 2014-15 (cheques were presented
by The Rt Hon David Cameron MP): SSAFA Carterton and Witney Division,
Carterton Visions Club, Carterton Lights Up Memory Club, Carterton Carers
Group, Carterton Get Stuck In Holiday Activities, and the Allandale Youth Club/
Airplay Carterton. Phil Lewis, manager at The Siege of Orleans in Carterton, also
presented the Mayor with a charity donation of £85 which was raised from the
sale of Spitfire Ale from the micro-alehouse during Armed Forces Week. The
Prime Minister proceeded to have a chat with the invited guests and staff at
Carterton Town Council.
The Mayor also took this opportunity to present the Prime Minister with a copy
of the Carterton Masterplan, a book detailing Ted Little’s worldly adventures
raising awareness of SSAFA as well as a Shop Carterton bag.
