Carterton Crier Issue 2_lowres - page 8

The Adventures of
Flying Officer Ted Little
It was bright but fresh when I woke up
on the 15
th
October 2015, the morning
when I was to leave Carterton for the
trip of a lifetime with the RAF Falcons
on board RAF Brize Norton’s latest
aircraft – the A400M.
Cpl Rob Hetherington was left in
charge of me for the duration of
the trip and he wasted no time in
introducing me to the rest of the
team members. They made me feel
very welcome and it was an amazing
experience to be taking off from RAF
Brize Norton on such a new aircraft.
Our first stop was in Tbilisi, Georgia
where we helped deliver sports
equipment in aid of the Wounded
Warrior Project. It was a privilege to be
involved in such a worthwhile cause.
The following day I left Tbilisi to fly
into Al Minhad, UAE. From Al Minhad
I flew to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia
where we had 36 hours to explore the
local area. I was lucky enough to see
the Petronas Towers as well as the
historical temples at Batu Caves.
Having rested from exploring the
capital of Malaysia it was time to take
to the skies again. From Kuala Lumpur
we continued to fly east to Seoul in
South Korea where the RAF Falcons
were to display at the Seoul Aerospace
& Defence Exhibition.
Cpl Hetherington and the team made
sure I was fully involved in everything
they did and I even made some
new friends within the ROK
(Republic of Korea)
