Carterton Crier Issue 2_lowres - page 9

Parachute Display Team, plus I helped
the Drop Zone Officer calculate wind
speeds and cloud bases prior to the
Falcons dropping into the ADEX.
These were not the only friends I
made in Seoul, as I was fortunate
enough to visit the Seoul Foreign
School where Rob, Ollie and Kris
gave a presentation as to what the
team did and the equipment used. I
could have found many a new home
but I knew my mum back home in
Carterton would not want to see me
move out…not just yet anyway!
From Seoul I flew even further east to
Japan. No partying in Tokyo that night
as it was a late arrival so a quick bite
to eat then bedtime.
Leaving Japan in daylight I flew over
the vast Pacific Ocean towards Hawaii.
Having flown for 8 hours it was very
surreal to land the previous day, all
because of the time zones we had
flown across.
Nothing could prepare me for how
beautiful Hawaii was with its crystal
blue waters and golden sands. As soon
as I got to the beach I did remember
one thing…I forgot to pack my
surfboard! Whilst on the beach, I also
got myself on set of Hawaii Five-O
which was being filmed so keep your
eyes peeled for me on TV!
My journey was now coming to a close.
As we departed Hawaii and flew the
last leg to drop Rob and the team in
California so they could conduct their
winter training, I reflected on all the
things I had done and seen and know
I am one of the luckiest teddy bears
around. It’s not every day you meet
one that has flown around the world.
There will be even more details and
photos about my 24,000 mile, round
the world adventure with the RAF
Falcons published soon so watch out
for that!
