London Pride is the only community event
to close half the West End and Europe’s
busiest shopping street! That’s a huge
privilege and a massive opportunity to
celebrate, campaign and speak to the whole
of London, the UK and to be a beacon to
the rest of the world.
15,000 people joined the Parade in
2013, representing over 100 community
groups, with 65,000 people enjoying the
entertainment in Trafalgar Square, and
200,000 more packing the streets of Soho
all day. Most importantly, two-thirds of
you thought Pride in London 2013 was
better than past London Pride events you’d
attended.
London LGBT+ Community Pride has
confirmed that the Pride in London Parade
2014 will take place on Saturday, 28 June
as part of a week-long festival beginning
Sunday, 22 June. The 28 June 2014 will
mark the 45th anniversary of the Stonewall
riots in New York, a turning point for the
LGBT liberation movement. With the first
equal marriages beginning, it is a fitting
moment to celebrate the freedom that
the LGBT+ Londoners have won and to
continue the fight for equality for everyone
in our community.
The theme of Pride in London 2014 IS
‘Freedom to…’. This allows individuals and
groups to celebrate and campaign for the
issues that are most important to them.
