Reading Pride
set for a
musical 2014
Since the first Reading Pride festival
in 2003 attendance has grown steadily
year on year. In the festival’s inaugural
year, there were 2,500 visitors; in
2013 numbers grew to 5,000 on the
festival site at one time with over and
above 10,000 people visiting the event
throughout the day including over 300
participating in the parade.
This year’s event takes place on 30th
August at Kings Meadow Park. The
theme is ‘Musicals’ so think Wizard of
Oz, Sound of Music or Evita. The festival
takes place at Kings Meadow from
midday and runs all the way throughout
the day. It is free to enter and there is a
vibrant marketplace as well as two stages
featuring the best in local entertainment
as well as some big-name acts. There is
also a bar, a youth zone, a Members and
VIP area as well as a funfair.
Reading Pride is run entirely by
volunteers who work all the way through
the year to make the event happen.
Please donate as much as you can afford
to volunteers shaking buckets on the day.
