Carterton Crier Issue 2_lowres - page 19

First of all we would like to say a huge
thank you to each and every one of
you who donated to our Christmas
appeal and enabled us to give two
really important donations.
Thanks to you we are hoping soon
to be able to purchase a defibrillator.
Whilst we know that there are some
in the town already, only one of these
has been available for 24 hours a day
and that one is outside the Police
Station. Taking advice from the
ambulance service, we are now buying
one to go nearer to the centre of town.
Training will be available for anyone
who is interested in being able to make
a real difference in an emergency.
And we are also now working with
the Children’s Hospital in Oxford to
purchase equipment for the wonderful
work which they do with our children.
We will keep you posted on both these
projects in the next edition.
The last few months have been as
busy as ever! We bought plants
for a local primary school for their
wildlife pond and a book bag for the
Springfield Special Needs School. We
provided manpower for events in
aid of Lew church, for an NHS “Have
your Say” day and an Age UK event
at the town hall – and of course we
provided the Lion to help with the
Lantern Procession (and didn’t it rain!).
Our own trips included a tour of the
local Brewery and a wonderful trip to
Westonbirt Arboretum with a guided
tour of the autumn colours. Our Big
Birthday Party (Charter Night) which
was a very special event with a lot of
laughter held at Witney Lakes.
The year stretches ahead with lots to
do. Our famous SWELs party will be in
April – a chance for us to give our local
senior citizens a lovely afternoon out
with entertainment and a delicious tea
as well.
Get ready for those famous Car Boot
Sales on the Last Saturday of each
month from March until October.
Look out for us on the Recreation
Ground on 26
th
March, 30
th
April, 28
th
May etc, and we will look forward to
seeing you, our many friends both
selling and buying.
Come and join us! If you want to
have a great time and enjoy putting
something back into your local
community then take a look at our
website
or
ring 01993 772241.
See you soon!
