A charity with a heart
The RAF Benevolent Fund, the RAF’s leading welfare
charity, has been supporting serving personnel, past
and present and their families for almost 100 years. The
charity is there for all members of the RAF family in their
time of need – from a young Regiment Gunner injured on
patrol, to a World War Two veteran who needs support
to stay in his own home.
Support for RAF veterans
The RAF Benevolent Fund can
help RAF veterans with a range of
issues including financial assistance,
support with care home top-up fees,
domiciliary care, mobility aids or a
welfare break at its respite centre in
West Sussex. Its recently launched
Advice and Advocacy and Individual
Support Service provides tailored
assistance to the vulnerable, isolated
or bereaved ensuring they get the
help they need.
Supporting serving personnel
The men and women who serve our
country today and their families often
face unique pressures such as long
periods of separation and frequent
relocations but the RAF Benevolent
Fund’s support aims to ease the
pressures of service life. The charity
assists serving personnel and their
families with everything from childcare
and relationship support, to injury,
disability, financial hardship, illness
and bereavement. It continues to
fund special Citizens Advice Bureau
sessions on RAF stations and its
youth support programme, Airplay,
has recently been extended and now
includes children aged 5-17.
The RAF Benevolent Fund relies on
donations to continue providing this
vital welfare support.
