Lidos ready for summer!
As the weather beings to hot up (we hope), so the outdoor
swimming pools of Oxfordshire will come to life! In Abingdon,
the outdoor pool has received a lick of paint, aided by the
new Mayor and local MP, and is now open for visitors. There
has been a place to bathe on the site since the 1880s and
the current pool was dug in the 1950s. It is open every year
from late May to early September and has a learner pool,
changing rooms and a food and drink kiosk. The building is also
wheelchair friendly and there is an access hoist to the pool as
well.
Wallingford Riverside Pool at the Jubilee Splash Park has
also opened its doors for customers. The pool is 23 meters
in length and heated all season. Season tickets are available
for frequent swimmers and weather permitting, the pool will
remain open until the end of September. Hinksey pool in Oxford
city is also now open for business. The pool, which was recently
refurbished, is heated and has a great fountain water feature to
play under. A café is also open all day and for the more active
amongst you, there are boot camps and water workout classes
on offer as well.
