An Employer
of Choice
Here in Essex we believe that all our residents deserve the best quality of life
in Britain, whoever they are. That’s our vision and that’s what drives us to be
the best that we can be. We believe that all our residents have the right to
expect equality and dignity and that every single one of our services should
be available for those who need it without any barriers or discrimination.
What we believe for our customers we also believe about our employees.
We know that as an employer we benefit from a diverse and talented
workforce and we’re committed to making it representative of the people we
exist to serve.
But we don’t believe in just ticking boxes, we are passionate about making
a difference for our customers and our staff. We value you as an individual
and the talent that you can bring to our organisation and we will support you
to do the best job you can do regardless of your disability, gender, gender
identity, ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation or age.
We are who we are and we’re proud of it, if you can deliver the best quality
of life for the people of Essex we’d be proud to welcome you too.
The voice of our LGBT Network:
Claiming History
The latter part of the 20th Century sounds as though it is at least 100
years ago since LGBT people experienced discrimination but for many of us
still at work it was only ‘yesterday’.
John
Celebrating the Present
There is a strong and simple business case for shaping the environment in
which individuals can be out – people perform best in environments where
they can be themselves. I am pleased to say that I have never felt unable to
be myself here.
Reema
Creating the Future
We are building a diverse workplace, and that is very encouraging, but do
we think enough about less visible minority groups such as LGBT people?
Do we know enough about the needs of LGBT people in our community? I
believe there is more to do and we should all be a part of that journey.
