Commitment to an inclusive community that
celebrates diversity is at the very heart of the
University of Portsmouth.
Highest ranked modern University in the UK*, with 87 per
cent of our full-time students reportedly ‘satisfied’ and ‘very
satisfied’ with their course**, our popularity is ever increasing.
For the second year running, we have been acknowledged by the
LGB charity Stonewall as one of the top gay-friendly universities in
the UK – one of only six out of 150 universities to score ten out of
ten in the Gay By Degree Survey.
We’re not just a great place to study, but to work too. In
a recent staff survey, 91 per cent of respondents said the
University is a good place to work. Our staff development
programmes support teaching, research, academic and
personal development, offering real career progression
opportunities. Set in an historic and vibrant waterfront city,
you couldn’t ask for more.

customised care and support services
designed for individuals with learning
disabilities, mental health and older people’s
needs, in various locations around England.
Our overall vision is for every person to be
seen as a unique individual and to provide
services to maintain independence, exercise
choice and develop or maintain skill levels.
Our staff are our biggest asset as they are
the ones who help to deliver the good quality
services we promise. As holder of the Investor
in People (IIP) award since 1997, we’re

FvH is an international initiative opposing
homophobia in football. In England it is the
FA’s endorsed campaign to tackle homophobia
and prejudice against lesbian, gay bisexual
and transgender (LGBT) people in grassroots
football. Across football in the UK it is the largest
specifically designed campaign to tackle issues
around homophobia, biphobia and transphobia.
In Europe, FvH is backed by FARE and works
alongside individuals and clubs across the
continent. FvH runs around the year to enable
people to take action against prejudice and
discrimination based on sexuality or gender identity
in football, and to celebrate and welcome diversity.
FvH provides support, communication
materials, education and training to
enable anyone – including fans, LGBT
communities, grassroots teams, professional football
clubs and football authorities – to communicate
and promote the message that football is for
everyone. FvH culminates with a month of action
in February where there is an international show
of unity to stand up against homophobia and
prejudice against LGBT people in football.
We strive to:
1. Make existing football structures safe, welcoming
and inclusive for LGBT people
2. Create opportunities for LGBT people to engage
with football
3. Improve representation of LGBT people throughout
football
