Dyfed Powys –
Star Performers
As part of the Workplace Equality Index
assessment process, Stonewall recognises ‘Star
Performer Network Groups’, which make an
invaluable contribution to the experience of
LGB staff in their organisation and beyond.
Dyfed Powys Police’s LGB Staff Network, led by
Lorna McQuilliam, has been recognised as one
of Stonewall’s Star Performer Network Groups
for 2014.
Lorna McQuilliam says: ‘I am delighted that
we have been recognised as a Star Performer
Network Group. I am also pleased that we have
made the Stonewall Top 100 yet again. This
recognises the efforts of our support network,
Diversity Champion, and Diversity team.
Dyfed Powys Police is committed to embracing
and tackling LGB issues both internally and
externally.’
Dyfed Powys
Police has taken
the lead within
Wales to establish
Multi-Agency
Risk Assessment
Conferences
(MARACs) for
victims of hate
crimes and incidents.
The MARACs provide
multi-agency support to victims
at a high risk of hate crime, including
homophobic hate crime. A multi-agency action
plan is agreed to reduce the risks and impact of
hate crime on victims. Dyfed Powys police is also
an active member of the Hate Crime Criminal
Justice Board Cymru.
Lorna McQuilliam says: ‘As Lead of Dyfed Powys
Police’s LGB Staff Support Network I strongly
encourage members of the community to report
hate crimes and incidents to us. We will take
you seriously and do everything that we can to
support you. Dyfed Powys Police’s ethos is to put
the public first in everything that we do.’
