to report hate incidents to the Police, and send a
clear message to perpetrators that the Force will
not tolerate crimes and incidents targeted against
people on the grounds of their sexual orientation
or gender identity.’
The Force’s Champion for sexual orientation,
Superintendent Claire Parmenter, states: ‘The
International Day against Homophobia and
Transphobia (IDAHO) provides a platform to
make a powerful statement of support to LGB and
T people – both our staff and the communities
we serve. The organisation has worked hard to
support LGB staff, and to ensure that our LGB
and T communities have the confidence to report
issues to us.’
Victims are encouraged to report hate crime via
999, 101, True Vision at

the All Wales Third Party Reporting Centre at
Dyfed-Powys Police currently has 82 Hate Crime
Support Officers, who provide an extra layer of
support to victims and ensure that the correct
procedures for investigating hate crime are
followed. Hate Crime Support Officers receive
enhanced training in dealing with hate crime
offences.
The Force pursues every available opportunity to
engage with diverse and minority groups, through
our Independent Advisory Group, local Confidence
and Equality meetings, and community events such
as Pride, Mardi Gras, and Sparkle events.
