This year’s special 10th anniversary LGBTA
Reading Pride parade and the festival will
take place on Saturday 31st August 2013.
Everyone is welcome and entry is free. This
year’s Parade will start from Reading Civic
Centre at 11.30am. To illustrate this year’s
parade theme of “Reading Pride through the
Decades” participants will be encouraged
to wear fashions from the fifties up to the
present day, and will form a giant human
timeline.
As well as being colourful, the parade will be educational,
with representatives from each decade proudly displaying
message boards detailing the major milestones and
events that have shaped the lives of the
LGBTA communities in the Thames
Valley. The parade procession will
pass the Broad Street Mall
and the Oracle Shopping
Centre before heading
through Forbury
Gardens, reaching
the festival site at
12 noon as the
gates open to the
public.

The Reading Pride festival has been held
annually at Kings Meadow Park since the
very first festival in 2004. The festival is
a celebration of integration and diversity
within the local community and this
emphasis on community will be evident
everywhere on site, from the mix of
traders and charities represented within
the popular Market Place area, to the
line-up of community bands, singers and
other performance acts appearing on the
main stage in the early afternoon, before
the big headline acts, including exciting
breakthrough pop act ‘Anttix’, step into
the limelight.
New attractions for 2013 include a ‘Beauty
Bar’ offering mini manicures and fast track
beauty treatments and a dedicated Cabaret
Tent hosting performances by some of
the biggest names on the U.K club circuit
including Lucinda Lashes, Benji, Steven
Hitchens, Rose Garden and last year’s
glamorous main stage comperes, Wilma
Fingadoo and Sandra.
As in previous years there will also be
plenty of places to eat and drink, an
exclusive VIP Area with prime views
of the main stage, a family funfair and a
dedicated Youth Zone.
